Located in Hayden, CO, Elkhead Ranch includes 9,500 scenic acres of grazing pastures, Elkhead and Calf Creeks, forests, wetlands and hay meadows. The abundant ranch offers many services and products, such as natural grass-fed beef and natural potatoes, with the main focus on growing things organically, naturally, and chemically free.
Elkhead Ranch has been ranched since 1883 and was purchased by current owner Heather Stirling in 1974. The ranch was historically designated in 1996. One of the reasons was because it was one of the last places in the United States that was opened up for homesteading in the early 1900′s. Also the ranch has several historical buildings located on the property.
Heather has placed conservation easements on Elkhead Ranch to protect its history, land, water, wildlife and amazing scenery. She is also working on rehabilitating Elkhead Creek and continues to work the land using different conservation practices. Heather Stirling is dedicated to preserving the legacy of Elkhead Ranch for future generations.
