South Park Fly Fishers Program

Designated a National Heritage Area in 2009, Park County has some of the best fishing in the state and is located 50 miles southwest of Denver. Park County has a longstanding mission to “Conserve Park County’s most valuable natural and cultural resources, and utilize them to establish a new sustainable economy”. With grant funding from Great Outdoors Colorado, Park County Land and Water Trust Fund and other donors, Park County has protected and conserved land on seventeen agriculture properties. One of the most successful aspects of the Park County Heritage Program is the South Park ranch recreation and management initiative. Since 2004, Park County has secured leases on seven working cattle ranches for limited and highly managed public fly fishing access. The South Park Fly Fishers Program allows the public to reserve sections of streams for 2-4 people daily. Since each property is carefully monitored daily to make sure aquatic resources are not abused, and that fish stocking and angler use are consistent with current habitat and water conditions, you can be sure that you will have an enjoyable day of fishing.
